New Zealand Invests $32.8 Million in Growing Schools

Education Minister Erica Stanford announced that 34 additional classrooms and a new gym will be built for ten schools with significant roll growth pressure. The investment is made possible through savings in the school property portfolio, which has generated over $330 million in savings since July 2024. The schools receiving additional classrooms or facilities include Avondale Primary School, Berkley Normal Middle School, Botany Downs Secondary College, and others. The new classrooms will be delivered through standard designs or offsite manufacturing to support efficient delivery. Construction is expected to begin over the next 12 months, with completion targeted for mid-2028. This investment builds on the nearly 1,400 new classrooms funded across New Zealand over the past three years.
