New Zealand Government Endorses Tourism 2050 Strategy

Tourism Minister Louise Upston welcomed the release of Tourism Industry Aotearoa’s Tourism 2050 strategy, saying it will help shape the sector’s future and outline opportunities and challenges. She praised the strategy’s alignment with the earlier Tourism Policy Statement, which set broad priorities for growth that benefits visitors and communities. The plan emphasizes balanced growth, regional prosperity, improved connectivity, competitiveness, and the use of data, technology and AI. The government will continue working with TIA and other partners to implement future programmes, aiming to keep New Zealand’s tourism system well positioned to deliver benefits for visitors, businesses, workers, communities and the wider economy.
