New Zealand Continues Growth of Frontline Mental Health Workers

New Zealand's Mental Health Minister Matt Doocey announced the refresh of the Mental Health and Addiction Workforce Plan, building on strong workforce growth. The plan aims to continue growing the frontline workforce, with a focus on digital mental health and investing in community organisations. Since coming into government, the frontline mental health and addiction workforce has grown by 11%, with vacancy rates falling and more New Zealanders getting faster access to support. The plan has exceeded the workforce target, with 514 new mental health and addiction workers commencing training. The refresh will help ensure the workforce is embracing technology and utilising AI and digital mental health tools.
