What happened
American Formula One team Haas is still deciding on its 2027 driver roster, with Esteban Ocon declaring himself a free agent after the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. Team boss Ayao Komatsu confirmed that no decision has yet been made and that the lineup will be settled within the next couple of weeks.
Haas has tested several potential replacements, including Ferrari‑supported Brazilian Rafael Camara, McLaren reserve Leonardo Fornaroli, Toyota‑backed Japanese driver Ryo Hirakawa, and reserve Jack Doohan, all of whom were evaluated in private tests. Komatsu said keeping Ocon remains an option, noting that the driver’s status has not changed significantly.
The team plans to review findings, discuss internally, and consult owner Gene Haas before finalizing the decision.
