Haiti’s Humanitarian Cash Transfer Coordination Group Sets Strategic Agenda
WHY IT MATTERS
By coordinating and improving cash transfers, Haiti’s humanitarian actors can deliver aid more efficiently, ensuring vulnerable communities receive timely and adequate support.
What happened
The Groupe de Travail sur les Transferts Monétaires en Haïti (GTTM/CBTWG) convened on 20 August 2026 to refine how cash assistance is delivered across the country. The group, which brings together government agencies, financial service providers, UN bodies and NGOs, aims to raise the quality of monetary transfers and embed them more fully into humanitarian programming.
Meeting highlights included a review of the World Food Programme’s collaboration with the UN Refugee Agency, the finalization of the Joint Market Monitoring Initiative, a revision of transfer values, and the presentation of a new strategy and priorities for the coming months.
These steps are intended to make cash aid more responsive and beneficial for Haiti’s most vulnerable populations.
