Haiti: Humanitarian Response to Armed Violence in Gressier and Léogâne

Armed violence in the Haitian towns of La Colline and Bellevue, in the commune of Gressier, has led to the displacement of approximately 704 people, with 221 households affected. The violence, marked by the burning of homes and loss of life, has escalated. The majority of those displaced, 70%, have taken refuge in the commune of Léogâne, while smaller numbers have gone to Petit-Goâve, Grand-Goâve, and Gressier. Most displaced individuals, 82%, have been taken in by host families, while 18% have settled in three sites in Léogâne, including two pre-existing sites and one established in response to the incidents. Humanitarian interventions are underway to address the situation.
