Hong Kong Authorises Northern Link Rail Plan

The Hong Kong Government has authorised the Northern Link (NOL) Spur Line railway scheme, paving the way for construction to begin as soon as possible. The NOL Spur Line, an underground railway, will connect San Tin Station on the NOL Main Line to the new Huanggang Port in Shenzhen. The 5-km-long Hong Kong section will feature three new railway stations, including two in the Hong Kong section and one at the new Huanggang Port. The project aims to commission the NOL Spur Line alongside the NOL Main Line by 2034 or earlier, reducing travel time between San Tin and Huanggang Port to approximately 11 minutes. The NOL Project is seen as an important transport infrastructure project driving the development of the Northern Metropolis and facilitating Hong Kong's integration into national development. The Government noted that no objections to the railway scheme were received during the gazettal period, reflecting community support for the project.
