Hong Kong Police College Introduces First Government Degree Course

What happened
The Hong Kong Police College has become the first government department to offer a degree programme. Commissioner of Police Joe Chow Yat-ming announced the development, following the Hong Kong Council for Accreditation of Academic and Vocational Qualifications' approval of the Bachelor of Policing (Honours) (Security and Criminal Investigation) programme last month.
The course is set to be rolled out for rank-and-file officers by the end of this year. The programme aims to enhance the officers' skills and knowledge in security and criminal investigation.
The Hong Kong Police College has taken this step to provide its officers with a more comprehensive education, preparing them for the complexities of modern policing. The development reflects the government's efforts to upgrade the training and education of its law enforcement officers.
