What happened
The Hong Kong government has announced that the Hong Kong Stadium may become a temporary venue for major tennis tournaments while the centre court at Victoria Park undergoes a major upgrade. Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law Shuk‑pui said the authorities could reserve the stadium for tennis during specific periods each year and install temporary courts and related facilities.
The plan aims to keep high‑profile events in the city and attract even higher‑level competitions before the new Victoria Park venue is completed.
