Hong Kong Hospital Project Lifts Review Underway
WHY IT MATTERS
The review may lead to improved supervision mechanisms for future hospital projects, ensuring timely completion and effective functionality of critical infrastructure.
What happened
The Hong Kong Development Bureau has initiated a review of the newly installed lifts at the Clinical Block of Queen Mary Hospital. The review aims to identify the root causes of the lifts' failure to function effectively.
The Architectural Services Department and the Electrical & Mechanical Services Department are responsible for supervising the contractor's work on the project. Rectification works are underway to minimize project delays, with follow-up works expected to be completed in the fourth quarter of this year.
The review will examine areas for improvement and potential enhancements to the supervision mechanism for similar projects.
