FIA Courts Address Concerns Over Independence and Impartiality

The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) Courts have responded to public comments questioning the independence and impartiality of the judges in Case ICA-2026-06-07-08-09. The FIA Courts emphasize that the appointment and participation of judges were conducted in accordance with FIA judicial procedures and usual practice, inspired by the IBA Guidelines on Conflicts of Interest in International Arbitration. Judges are elected by the FIA General Assemblies and subject to independence and confidentiality requirements. They make annual disclosures of interests and sign a declaration of independence for each case. The parties involved were invited to raise any issues concerning the proceedings, but none did so. The FIA Courts remain committed to the independence and impartiality of their judges and the integrity of the judicial process.
