New Zealand Invests $675,000 to Upgrade Te Waihou Blue Spring Visitor Facilities

The New Zealand Government has committed $675,000 from the International Visitor Levy to improve visitor infrastructure at Te Waihou Blue Spring in South Waikato. Tourism and Hospitality Minister Louise Upston said the upgrades will help manage the growing number of local and international visitors and protect the quality of the experience. Planned improvements include extending the main Leslie Road carpark, installing new public toilet facilities, adding technology infrastructure for future visitor management, and establishing park‑and‑ride services. The investment will be delivered in partnership with the South Waikato District Council and local iwi Ngāti Raukawa, aiming to reduce congestion, support local jobs and incomes, and preserve the site as a key tourism asset.
