New Zealand Government Endorses Hospitality Roadmap, Plans Coordinated Action Plan

Tourism and Hospitality Minister Louise Upston welcomed a new industry report that outlines practical steps to secure the long‑term success of New Zealand’s hospitality sector. The Hospitality Summit Report: Serving Success 2026 Revision, produced by Hospitality New Zealand and the Restaurant Association of New Zealand, contains 48 recommendations across employment, alcohol policy, tourism, data compliance and skills training. Upston noted that many recommendations are already completed or in progress and that the report recognises progress since the 2024 Hospitality Summit. She announced the creation of a Hospitality Action Plan that will bring together existing government work, the report’s recommendations and the upcoming regulatory review into a single coordinated framework. The plan aims to remove growth barriers, support businesses and workers, and strengthen the sector’s contribution to the economy.
