What happened
Statistics Canada has released new linkage files that combine the first seven cycles of the Canadian Health Measures Survey (CHMS) – covering the period from 2007‑2009 (Cycle 1) to 2022‑2024 (Cycle 7) – with selected administrative databases.
The files allow researchers to track CHMS participants over time and analyze how directly measured health characteristics relate to a range of health outcomes, including cancer incidence, hospitalization, emergency department use, mental health service use, survival, and mortality.
The linkage provides a comprehensive resource for studies that require both survey‑based health measurements and administrative health outcome data.
