Apple Introduces iPhone Handoff to Share a Single Number Across Two Devices in iOS 27
WHY IT MATTERS
It lets users keep a single number on a high‑end foldable phone while using a more portable companion, reducing the need to carry multiple devices.
What happened
Apple has announced a new iPhone Handoff feature that will let users share a single phone number between two iPhones. The feature, slated for iOS 27, was first hinted at during the June WWDC keynote but lacked details.
A recent demo clip shows how to pair a main device and a companion using Xcode 27’s Device Hub. When iOS 27 launches later this month, users will be able to switch between the two phones without changing numbers.
The move comes ahead of the expected release of the foldable iPhone Ultra, giving customers a way to keep a high‑end device at home while using a more portable phone on the go.
