Island Energies Donates Vehicle to Support 264 Mobility Journeys in Limassol

WHY IT MATTERS

The service improves access to healthcare and essential services for residents with mobility challenges, fostering independence and social inclusion in Limassol.

What happened

Island Energies, a Limassol‑based maritime and energy group, donated a vehicle to the Cyprus Red Cross – Limassol Branch to support a transport programme that has already completed 264 journeys for people with mobility difficulties since July 2026. The service, officially launched on 14 October during a ceremony that also recognised the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation, provides rides to hospitals, rehabilitation centres, clinics, doctors’ surgeries, social events and other essential destinations. The foundation covers operating costs while Island Energies supplies the vehicle, and the programme operates on an income‑based charging system: free for applicants earning less than €1,000 per month and €15 per journey for higher earners. Residents can request rides 48 hours in advance by calling 25 355104 or emailing limassol@redcross. org. cy.
