Hong Kong Resident Safely Repatriated from the Philippines

A Hong Kong resident who completed a sentence in the Philippines has returned to Hong Kong, escorted by Immigration Department officers. He reunited with family at the airport and thanked the Chinese Embassy in the Philippines and the Hong Kong SAR Government for their assistance. The government highlighted its long‑standing commitment to protecting the rights of Hong Kong residents detained overseas, noting that since 2003 it has maintained close contact with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, the Embassy, and Filipino authorities. The Embassy arranged visits to the resident during his imprisonment and worked with local judicial authorities to monitor his case. Upon release, the Immigration Department and the Embassy coordinated with Filipino officials to issue travel documents and expedite the repatriation, resulting in a prompt and smooth return. The Immigration Department will continue to monitor the case and provide further assistance.
