Lebanon's Health System Under Strain Amid Ongoing Violence

Lebanon's health sector continues to face significant challenges due to insecurity, restricted access, and damage to health infrastructure. Since August 31, two new incidents have been reported, resulting in 6 injuries. The cumulative total of attacks since March 2, 2026, stands at 215, with 135 deaths and 416 injuries. Many health facilities in hard-to-reach areas remain closed, and conditions in South Lebanon remain volatile, disrupting healthcare services. Despite these constraints, health teams continue to support access to essential healthcare in conflict-affected communities. Locating and reaching displaced families remains difficult, affecting health coverage and the identification of unmet needs. The Ministry of Public Health and health partners are coordinating service coverage and addressing identified gaps. A dedicated mapping exercise is planned to clarify partner activities and outstanding needs.
