Lebanon Joins Digital Cooperation Organisation, Expands Digital Ties with Cyprus

Lebanon signed the Digital Cooperation Organisation (DCO) Charter in Riyadh, becoming a signatory member while its full accession will follow the organisation’s procedures. The signing, conducted by Minister Kamal Shehadi, coincided with the launch of the Lebanon Digital Prosperity Plan, a framework that translates Lebanon’s digital priorities—policy, infrastructure, AI, skills, entrepreneurship and investment—into measurable projects. Cyprus, already a DCO member, will now have a formal channel to deepen cooperation on digital policy, technology, and investment, complementing existing ties such as the 2025 EEZ agreement, a World Bank‑backed electricity interconnection study, and joint search‑and‑rescue initiatives. The DCO’s expansion to potentially 24 members, covering roughly 980 million people, positions Lebanon to tap into a broader market and attract strategic investment, while reinforcing its resilient technology sector and highly connected population.
