The country's food stocks are anticipated to deplete early, by September, with households becoming increasingly reliant on markets for food. In contrast, the Northern Lowlands and Foothills are expected to remain food-secure through January 2027, supported by an average harvest and available labor opportunities.
El Niño conditions are expected to drive a late and below-average start to the rainy season, constraining early crop establishment and reducing labor opportunities for poor households.
