Bill Maher Criticizes Left Over Massachusetts Lesbian Bar Mask Policy

On Friday’s episode of HBO’s "Real Time," comedian Bill Maher attacked the far‑left for their backlash against Last Ditch Bar and Arts Venue, a lesbian bar in Greenfield, Massachusetts that lifted its COVID‑era KN‑95 mask mandate for one night a week to keep the business afloat. The bar, which has struggled financially—its owner reportedly lives in a truck and has waived cover charges for patrons who cannot pay—has drawn criticism from local residents who gathered at a community meeting on Sept. 11. Critics also targeted the bar’s decision to use a white licensed therapist as a mediator. Maher said the left’s intolerance toward the bar’s survival efforts was hypocritical, calling out hateful comments such as “I hope your venue gets firebombed.”
