The Cyprus Football Association confirmed that 27‑year‑old Marcus Edwards, who currently plays for Burnley in the Championship, has pledged to represent Cyprus internationally. Edwards, an Anglo‑Cypriot who earned a Cypriot passport, has already begun the clearance process for national team selection.
The announcement followed discussions with coach Apostolos Mantzios, who noted that Edwards had expressed a positive response to the opportunity. A product of Tottenham Hotspur’s academy, Edwards represented England at youth levels up to under‑20 and was a leading performer for Burnley in the Premier League last season.
With the clearance underway, he is set to join the Cyprus squad for the forthcoming UEFA Nations League fixtures, adding a proven attacking midfielder to the team’s lineup.
