2026 Ig Nobel Prize Winners Announced
WHY IT MATTERS
The Ig Nobel Prizes highlight the often unconventional and humorous side of scientific research, showcasing the creativity and ingenuity of scientists in their pursuit of knowledge.
What happened
The Ig Nobel Prizes, a lighthearted parody of the Nobel Prizes, have honored research in various fields, including designing splash-free urinals, using mosquito proboscises to create tiny nozzles, and studying the aerodynamics of nose-blowing.
The winners will give free public talks, which will be posted online.
The ceremony features unique elements such as miniature operas and 24/7 lectures, where experts must explain their work in short time frames.
