Meta Pauses Muse Sharing Feature After Security Firm Finds Publicly Accessible AI Chat Links
WHY IT MATTERS
The pause highlights potential privacy risks from publicly shared AI conversations and underscores the need for secure sharing controls in emerging AI platforms.
What happened
Meta has temporarily disabled the Muse feature that lets users share AI assistant conversations after a security firm, Claroc, discovered over 6,800 publicly accessible Muse URLs via DNS records. The links, which create pages viewable by anyone with the link, were found to be publicly available on the web.
Muse spokesperson Tracy Clayton said Meta is reviewing the report and considering changes to how these links can be shared.
The pause is part of Meta’s response to the security findings.
