FTC Expands Amazon Prime Refunds to $200 for Eligible Customers
WHY IT MATTERS
It protects consumers from overcharging and clarifies Amazon’s refund policy, ensuring fair treatment for a large customer base.
What happened
The Federal Trade Commission has widened the eligibility window for Amazon Prime customers to receive refunds for alleged misleading practices. Prime members who enrolled or tried to cancel between the specified dates will automatically receive refunds of up to $200, a substantial increase from the previous cap.
Amazon will issue payments via checks or electronic transfers by April 2027, and customers need not take any action to claim the refund.
The move aims to address consumer concerns over deceptive billing and subscription practices.
