New Zealand Invests $78 Million in Children's Dental Services

New Zealand's Associate Health Minister Matt Doocey announced a new national agreement to support oral health services for children and young people. The agreement includes a 5% increase in funding for private dental providers, who will receive $78 million in 2026/27. This funding will support free dental care for 0- to 17-year-olds and cover common dental procedures. A temporary administration payment will also be provided for high-caries treatment plan applications. The funding takes into account population growth, with more young people eligible for oral health services. A wider Oral Health Services Review is being progressed to improve the delivery and funding of services.
