New Zealand Government Invests in Local Homelessness Services

The New Zealand Government has announced a $1 million investment to strengthen local homelessness services in Lower Hutt, Hamilton, Upper Hutt, and Whangārei. This funding will boost existing short-term services in Lower Hutt and establish new services in the other three cities. Associate Housing Minister Tama Potaka stated that local organisations understand their communities and can effectively reach people in need. The investment builds on previous funding for short-term actions to support people sleeping rough, which expanded outreach and support services across New Zealand. Local providers will deliver practical support and improve outcomes for individuals and their families. The Government aims to help people move off the streets and into stable housing.
