Moscow has opened the first section of the Rublyovo‑Arkhangelskaya metro line, adding three new stations—Narodnoye Opolcheniye, Zvenigorodskaya, and Bulvar Generala Karbysheva—to the network. The line also incorporates the existing Delovoy Tsentr and Shelepikha stations from the Big Circle Line. Riders at Narodnoye Opolcheniye have taken note of the minimalist benches, some of whom say the shape resembles coffins. The same design language has appeared before; in 2023, benches at Kakhovskaya on the Zamoskvoretskaya line drew similar comparisons. Meanwhile, Bulvar Generala Karbysheva features a mural referencing the “special military operation.” Social media users have offered alternative interpretations—an ironing board or surfboard—highlighting how design choices can quickly become public talking points.
