Mozambique Humanitarian Plan Seeks $348 Million to Aid 1.1 Million in Conflict‑Affected Districts

The 2026 Humanitarian Needs and Response Plan (HNRP) for Mozambique calls for US$348 million to support 1. 1 million people across 17 districts in Cabo Delgado, two in Nampula and one in Niassa. Of those, 919,000 are hyper‑prioritized in Severity 4 districts such as Ancuabe, Chiúre, and Macomia. By the end of July, relief agencies had reached 652,000 people—58 % of the target—through food security and livelihoods programmes that served 426,000. Multisectoral support in health, protection, WASH, and shelter reached 441,000, while 293,000 children accessed education, nutrition, and child protection services. Eighty percent of implementing organisations are NGOs. In the most critical districts, 368,000 people were assisted against a target of 919,000. Donors have supplied US$120 million, covering 35 % of the HNRP requirement, but an additional US$187 million is needed for a Floods Addendum that would help 620,000 people in southern districts.
