Mozilla Launches Firefox Enterprise to Empower Institutional Browser Control
WHY IT MATTERS
It gives organizations a way to reduce reliance on dominant browser engines, enhancing data control and operational resilience amid increasing digital sovereignty demands.
What happened
Mozilla has unveiled Firefox Enterprise, a browser solution designed for organizations with strict security, governance, and compliance needs. Built on Mozilla’s independent Gecko engine, the platform pairs the Firefox browser with a management console that institutions can run on their own infrastructure.
IT teams can centrally enforce browser policies, govern data flow, and set controls around AI use, all while keeping existing identity, SIEM, and MDM systems intact. The initiative addresses growing concerns about digital sovereignty and the concentration of technology dependencies, especially in Europe, by giving institutions more control, transparency, choice, and resilience over the browser layer.
Firefox Enterprise is initially focused on France, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland, with plans to expand.
