MSF Staff Keep Mocha Hospital Running Amid Escalating Conflict

Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) has stayed in Mocha, Yemen, after a surge of fighting on the western coast. The organization’s 30 remaining healthcare workers keep the General Hospital open, delivering maternity, paediatric, and cholera care while other city facilities shut down as staff fled. MSF had been preparing to reopen a field hospital and expand ambulance services, but the rapid advance of Ansar Allah forces forced a re‑organisation. The hospital now handles emergency deliveries, intensive care, and neonatal support for dozens of patients, including those displaced from nearby towns. With no possibility of referring patients to Aden, the General Hospital is the sole remaining medical hub in the city. MSF urges authorities to protect all medical assets to allow continued life‑saving care.
