What happened
Widjabul Wiyebal woman Rhoda Roberts, a celebrated cultural ambassador of the Bundjalung nation, died in March at the age of 66. On Saturday night in Alice Springs, the Naidoc awards presented her with the lifetime achievement award posthumously.
Roberts was recognised for a lifetime of dedication to sharing, preserving and promoting First Nations culture through language, dance and ceremony.
The award ceremony highlighted her role in keeping Bundjalung traditions alive and celebrated her impact on Australian cultural heritage.
