Associate Transport Minister James Meager has confirmed the appointment of Jonathan Moore to the Maritime New Zealand board. Moore brings extensive maritime industry experience, having worked in the merchant navy, regulatory, port, and freight sectors.
He has held senior leadership and harbourmaster roles in New Zealand and Western Australia, and was the Chief Executive of Northport for 19 years. Moore's appointment is expected to strengthen Maritime New Zealand's oversight of maritime safety, security, and environmental protection.
His experience will provide additional operational perspective and sector insight to the board, complementing its current balance of governance, regulatory, and public sector expertise.
