What happened
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is seeking public comment on a proposal to remove two legacy test procedures from its New Car Assessment Program.
The Dynamic Rollover Resistance Test and the Side Air Bag Out-of-Position testing protocols are being considered for removal as they have achieved their original safety goals.
The agency also plans to update the 10-year roadmap for future NCAP upgrades to modernize the program and focus on crash scenarios with the greatest potential for injury reduction.
