New Zealand and Vietnam Expand Agricultural Trade and Cooperation

New Zealand’s Agriculture and Trade Minister Todd McClay announced that New Zealand and Vietnam are deepening their bilateral trade and cooperation through new market access and a Memorandum of Arrangement. The agreement will allow Vietnamese consumers to purchase premium New Zealand products such as honey, deer velvet and venison, while New Zealanders will gain access to high‑quality Vietnamese flowers and foliage, including carnations, daisies, orchids and lilies. The Memorandum focuses on collaboration in agriculture, fisheries and forestry, with particular emphasis on research, technology, sustainable agriculture and capability development. McClay highlighted that the two countries have recently elevated their relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, marking 50 years of diplomatic ties. He stressed that the partnership reflects a strong partnership and will deliver benefits for producers, exporters and consumers on both sides. The government remains committed to expanding trade and creating mutual opportunities for producers in both nations.
