UN OCHA Reports Over 220,000 Relief Items Delivered to Gaza, More Than One Million Awaiting Approval

UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) released its 59th emergency response activity update for the occupied Palestinian territory, covering 1–31 August 2026. The report states that more than 220,000 relief items were delivered to partners inside Gaza during the month. An additional 100,000 items are queued for dispatch from stocks already located within Gaza. Beyond the territory, the UN and partner agencies have prepositioned over one million items outside Gaza, awaiting Israeli approval. These supplies include critical shelter and winterization equipment intended to protect families as the cold season approaches. The delay in approvals could postpone the distribution of these essential goods, leaving vulnerable populations exposed to harsh winter conditions.
