Edo Governor Inaugurates Four New State Bodies, Calls for Integrity
WHY IT MATTERS
The new bodies aim to fill gaps in pilgrim support, consumer protection, and rural infrastructure, directly improving service quality and public trust in Edo State governance.
What happened
On Thursday, Edo State Governor Okpebholo inaugurated four new government bodies: the Edo State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board, the Christian Pilgrims Welfare Board, the Consumer Protection Committee, and the Edo State Rural Access Roads Agency. He urged the members of each body to perform their duties with integrity, humility, and a commitment to public service.
The pilgrim welfare boards are tasked with coordinating and supporting Muslim and Christian pilgrims traveling abroad, while the Consumer Protection Committee will oversee consumer rights and market fairness. The Rural Access Roads Agency is expected to improve connectivity and infrastructure in rural areas.
The inauguration marks a formal start to these agencies’ operations and signals the governor’s focus on strengthening public service delivery across the state.
