Women in Nepal Rebuild Lives with Community Kitchens

In the aftermath of the Nepal floods, women are taking charge of community kitchens, providing meals for displaced families and creating temporary paid work. UN Women, in partnership with local organizations, has established four community kitchens in Nuwakot and Rasuwa districts. The kitchens serve up to 9,000 meals in a month, with over 15,000 meals served in two weeks. Women like Ranjit and Sannani BK are earning income while helping others, supporting their families and communities during the recovery process. The community kitchens are designed to operate for one to three months post-disaster, providing essential support to those affected by the floods.
