OpenAI Unveils Dots, New AI Assistant Rivaling Meta's Muse

What happened
During its DevDay keynote on Tuesday, OpenAI announced Dots, a line of always‑on AI assistants that compete directly with Meta’s Muse. Dots are represented by cute, customizable avatars and are powered by the GPT‑6 Astra model.
They run on a dedicated cloud computer, giving them access to a web browser and more than 4,000 supported apps. Users can interact with a Dot through a text‑message‑style interface similar to Muse’s, and can also hop on a voice call with it from ChatGPT on the web, desktop, or mobile.
Dots learn user preferences over time, enabling them to perform a wide range of tasks across connected applications in the background.
