One Year After Gaza Ceasefire, Humanitarian Crisis Persists, Over 1,400 Killed
WHY IT MATTERS
The ongoing violence and aid restrictions undermine the ceasefire’s purpose, leaving civilians—especially children—perpetually exposed to death, disease, and displacement, and highlighting a failure of international accountability.
What happened
More than 100 humanitarian and human‑rights organisations say the Gaza ceasefire exists only in name. Since the agreement a year ago, Israeli forces have killed more than 1,400 Palestinians, including 327 children, and injured over 5,000 people. Nearly two million residents still lack adequate shelter, and 1.
4 million face crisis‑level hunger. No Gaza hospital is fully functional; 18,500 patients, including 4,000 children, still need medical evacuation, and over 1,000 have died waiting.
Restrictions on aid, equipment and rebuilding materials have prevented the delivery of essential supplies. Satellite imagery shows 82 % of Gaza’s structures damaged, and the Israeli “Yellow Line” has expanded to cover 63 % of the territory, squeezing civilians into increasingly unsafe areas.
