What happened
A recent report by the United Nations Population Fund highlights a surge in reported cases of gender-based violence in Gaza from April to June 2026. The analysis, conducted by the Gaza GBV Case Management Taskforce, reveals a disproportionate impact on women and girls, with denial of resources being the most frequently reported form of GBV.
The report also notes increases in forced and early marriage, as well as sexual violence, amidst displacement, inadequate shelter, and limited access to essential services.
Key recommendations include expanding multisectoral GBV services, increasing economic support for women and girls, and improving GBV risk mitigation across humanitarian sectors.
