Otago Youth to Launch 10‑Week Enterprise Accelerator Program

The New Zealand Government has announced a new 10‑week Enterprise Accelerator program aimed at young people in Otago’s Dunedin, Clutha and Waitaki districts. More than 240 participants, aged 15 to 24, will receive hands‑on training in business strategy, budgeting and operational planning. The initiative, backed by $120,000 in government funding, will be delivered by King’s Trust Aotearoa New Zealand. Participants will work alongside experienced mentors and gain practical experience through workshops and group sessions. The program also links youth to He Kākano, a national seed‑funding scheme that offers financial support for promising business ideas. By providing tailored support and access to a nationwide alumni network, the program seeks to strengthen work‑readiness, boost confidence and create pathways into employment, business and self‑employment. Minister James Meager said the investment will unlock potential, helping young people develop the skills employers demand and contribute to the regional economy.
