Pennsylvania Lawmaker Urges Trump to Rename Lake Erie as 'Lake Pennsylvania'

State Rep. David Maloney, a Republican from Pennsylvania, has announced a resolution that would ask President Donald Trump, Interior Secretary Doug Burgum, and Congress to rename Lake Erie to "Lake Pennsylvania." Maloney argues the lake is Pennsylvania’s only Great Lake and its modern economy—boaters, anglers, families, and tourists—depends on the waterway. He points out that Ohio has shoreline, New York already has two Great Lakes, and Canada has four others. The proposal follows Trump’s recent executive order to rename Lake Ontario to "Lake America," a change that has been adopted by U. S. federal agencies and reflected in Apple and Google Maps for U. S. users, though Canada rejects the new name. The resolution is still in draft form and would only affect U. S. federal usage if enacted.
