PIA Foundation and NUPRC Urge Sustained Reforms for Host Communities

The Petroleum Industry Development Board (PIND) and the National Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPRC) have jointly called for sustained reforms aimed at strengthening governance and improving the implementation of Nigeria’s Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) in host communities. By demanding ongoing reforms, PIND and NUPRC seek to ensure that host communities receive fair economic returns, better environmental safeguards, and improved public services. The call follows recent reports of governance gaps and uneven enforcement of the Act’s provisions. Stakeholders are urged to collaborate on policy adjustments, oversight mechanisms, and community engagement strategies to close these gaps and deliver tangible benefits to residents.
