Hong Kong Police Appoints Kong Hok‑lai as National Security Department Head

Chief Executive John Lee announced that Kong Hok‑lai will lead the Hong Kong Police Force’s National Security Department, succeeding Deputy Commissioner Kan Kai‑yan who retired. Kong, who has served in the Police for thirty years and has been part of the National Security Department since the law’s promulgation, took his oath of office on the same day. Lee praised Kong’s “outstanding performance, exemplary commitment to serve, and exceptional leadership with a high awareness of national security.” He added that Kong is “steadfast and courageous, and remains resolute in safeguarding national security.” Lee expressed confidence that Kong will assume greater responsibilities and make further contributions to national security protection.
