What happened
The Secretary for Home & Youth Affairs announced that a supervisory committee will be formed to probe Yuen Long District Council member Sei Chun‑hing after a District Court conviction for sexual conduct with a minor. The court found him guilty of having intercourse with a girl under 16 and remanded him in custody pending sentencing on October 27.
The YLDC chairman and three other members formally requested the inquiry under the District Councils Ordinance. The SHYA stressed the importance of integrity among council members and said it would monitor the legal proceedings closely, taking appropriate follow‑up action once the investigation concludes.
The committee will operate under the ordinance’s performance‑monitoring framework for council members.
