What happened
Qatar Charity (QC) delivered 2,298 food baskets to highly vulnerable households in Borno, Yobe, Kogi, and Niger states, reaching about 12,575 displaced and at‑risk people. The operation, carried out on September 22, 2026, included 1,000 baskets for internally displaced persons in Maiduguri’s informal settlements, 500 for families in Lokoja, 450 in Minna, and 448 for families of cataract‑surgery patients in Damaturu.
Each basket contained essential staples to meet immediate nutritional needs. QC worked with state emergency agencies and ministries, prioritizing persons with disabilities, widows, and the elderly.
The aid came amid ongoing food insecurity in northeast Nigeria, where displacement and rising costs strain livelihoods. QC also completed 1,074 eye surgeries and distributed 270 white canes as part of its broader humanitarian program.
