What happened
Sam Ashby, founder of the cult queer film zine Little Joe, brings his work to Cyprus as part of Queer Wave 2026. He will present Libidinal Archives, a selection of archival and research-based short films, and introduce the German film City of Lost Souls.
Ashby's work focuses on exploring films on the edges of mainstream culture and preserving queer film history. He believes that individuals, not institutions, have protected and preserved queer stories over time.
Ashby's project aims to encourage younger queer people to look beyond online platforms and connect with their past, discovering they are part of a collective continuum.
