Roblox Still Fails to Stop Adults from Targeting Kids, eSafety Finds

After implementing changes last fall aimed at blocking adults from messaging unknown children, Roblox is still allowing other forms of adult predation. Australia’s eSafety commissioner, Julie Inman Grant, revealed that an agency test conducted earlier this year uncovered significant gaps in the platform’s safeguards. Adult strangers can still send connection requests to children, and the children’s profiles—including account names, connection lists, avatar images, and interests—are publicly visible with no way to limit that visibility. These requests do not trigger parental alerts, and bad actors can search visible contact lists for additional targets. The findings suggest that Roblox’s current measures are insufficient to protect young users from adult exploitation.
