Royal Caribbean's Largest and Smallest Ships: A Size Comparison
WHY IT MATTERS
Understanding the size and amenities of Royal Caribbean's ships is crucial for travelers planning their next cruise, as it can greatly impact their onboard experience.
What happened
Royal Caribbean's fleet spans a wide range of ship sizes, from the massive Icon of the Seas to the intimate Grandeur of the Seas. The three largest ships in the fleet are the Icon Class vessels, Icon of the Seas, Star of the Seas, and Legend of the Seas, which measure 248,663 gross tons and can carry up to 5,610 passengers each.
In contrast, the smallest ship in the fleet is the Grandeur of the Seas, which measures 73,817 tons and has a passenger capacity of 1,992. The Icon Class ships are designed with families in mind, featuring a new outdoor 'neighborhood' called Surfside and more cabins with extra bunks.
Grandeur of the Seas, on the other hand, has a more traditional layout with pools, whirlpools, and sun-deck areas. Royal Caribbean is currently building new ships, including four more Icon Class vessels and one Oasis Class ship, which will be delivered in the late 2020s.
